The tools to catch up, in one backpack

The problem we're addressing

Children in Ukraine's most affected communities have spent months — often years — learning online, in shelters, or not at all. Many displaced families left everything behind, including schoolbooks. In de-occupied areas, school libraries and supplies were often destroyed or looted. A child cannot catch up on lost learning without the basic tools to study.

What's in a kit

• Age-appropriate textbooks and catch-up workbooks (Ukrainian curriculum)
• Stationery: notebooks, pens, pencils, geometry sets
• Offline study resources for periods without power or connectivity
• A guide for parents on supporting learning recovery at home

Kit contents are matched to age group and finalized with partner schools, so materials fit what children will actually study.

How the program will work

1. Partner selection

   We identify schools in frontline-adjacent and de-occupied hromadas and communities hosting many displaced families, and agree on needs with school leadership.

2. Procurement in Ukraine

   Materials are purchased from Ukrainian suppliers wherever possible, supporting the domestic economy.

3. Distribution through schools

   Teachers — who know which children need what — handle distribution. No public lists of recipients; children's privacy and dignity come first.

4. Follow-up

   We check with schools a term later: are materials used, what was missing, what should change in the next round.
